MTG Tournament 7-6-2011
Eighteen hopeful souls entered. Two emerged victorious and undefeated after four rounds. Then it was past my bedtime, so everyone had to go home. Tiebreakers determined Matt K. to be the winner and Spencer H. to be second. Matt played UR Splinter Twin and Spencer played RUG. That's exciting. Other top 8 finishers:
3. Kyler J.

4. Adam W. (suffered an ignominious defeat in the 2nd round)

What's this? Another quaint tournament report regarding a Tuesday night tournament. Five rounds were played. Egos were damaged. Perhaps a little blood was spilled. But in the end, all survived to walk out by 9 p.m. to duel another day.
Out of 19 players, the top 8 finishers were:
1. Anthony E. - Tengu Plants
2. Jacky H. - Genex Monarchs
3. Aaron B. - Macro
4. DJ Katter - Macro
5. Jordan V. - Agents
6. Steve N. - Tengu Plants
7. Elvis B. - I don't know
8. Daniel G. - I don't know what deck he was playing, but some random lady thought he was cute.I hope enough of you told Konami that Game Den is the best place for Regionals. Positive feedback about Game Den to Konami is vital to ensure Game Den is able to hold future Regionals. Game Den awaits Konami's response to its current Regional application. Game Den WVC acquired a Pot of Duality to award first place at its next Regional Qualifier. If Game Den WVC is not approved, woe is me.
Game Den, Game Den's owners, Game Den's managers, (all of those are me) strongly recommends NOT bringing valuables especially electronic devices to its stores. Furthermore, Game Den strongly suggests NEVER letting your cards out of your sight especially while trading. Game Den is NOT responsible for lost or damaged personal effects of its customers.>
On a happier note, the FREE tournament draws ever nearer. July 30th is the date, so reserve your spot today by calling 801 969-0074 or visiting either Game Den. Everyone will win at least one pack. Many opportunities to win other FREE stuff will be had by all.

Yu-gi-oh Tournament 7-2-11

What a wonderful occasion it is to see all the smiley, happy Yu-gi-oh players on Saturdays! Five dolla!! Five dolla!! For six intense rounds, duelists battled to determine the top 8 of the week. On this day the following 8 overcame all obstacles and earned the right to fight for top honor:

2nd: Anthony E. - Tengu Plants
3rd: Jordan V. - Agents
4th: DJ K. - Tengu Plants
5th: Chris L. - Dragunities
6th: Kevin S. - Plants
7th: Omeid V. - Junk Dopple
8th: Aaron B. - MacroIn the top 8 playoff, Jacky H., through some miracle of fate, barely squeaked out the narrowest of victories vs. Aaron B., Anthony E. defeated Omeid V., Jordan V. defeated Kevin S. and DJ K. defeated Chris L.
In the round of 4, Anthony E. won Jordan V., and DJ K utterly annihilated Jacky H.
Anthony E then had to go to work, so he and DJ K drew their match like little girls who play hopscotch at recess on a warm summer's day next to a field full of blooming daises.
As of right now, 112 players have signed up for Game Den WVC's BIG FREE YUGIOH TOURNAMENT to be held on July 30th. Don't delay in calling or coming into the store to reserve your spot. Only 128 seats are available, and July 30th will be a day like Mardi Gras, Carnival and New Year's Eve in Las Vegas all rolled into one. Well maybe not, but it will still be a lot of fun.

MTG Standard Tournament 6-15-2011
We are all anxiously awaiting the release of M12 next month and Innistrad in September methinks. The standard format has become a trifle overripe, and an injection of new cards is needed. Anyhoo, another fun tournament, all things considered, was held at Game Den in WVC on Wednesday night June 18.
Julian Ontiveros and Spencer Howland were the only two undefeated players after 3 rounds of Swiss pairings. They chose to draw in the 4th round to guarantee themselves 1st and 2nd places and split 10 packs for their efforts
Other players who finished 3-1 were Anthony Covert, Cameron Fazzio and Jeff McHenry aka The Doobie Brothers.

After a few week hiatus, once again yours truly has deemed it beneficial to report on a yugioh tournament. Yeah, that's the ticket. Twenty players enrolled and dueled valiantly for 4 rounds.
