April 28th is the day Konami gave Game Den in...

April 28th is the day Konami gave Game Den in Taylorsville to hold its Yu-gi-oh Regional Qualifier. April 28th is also the day Konami announced it will be holding its Sneak Peek tournaments. Game Den has no control over the dates for Yu-gi-oh Regional Qualifiers and Sneak Peeks.

The Regional Qualifier is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. The doors will open at 8:00 a.m. for registration. All players must submit an accurate deck list. Game Den highly recommends going online and typing deck lists on Konami's website.

The cost to play in a Regional Qualifier is $20. Regional Each player receives five packs of Order of Chaos. Game Den will not be able to give out Galactic Overlord packs to Regional Qualifier players. Each set of Yu-gi-oh has a corresponding Regional Qualifier season. This is the ORCS season, so Konami supplies only ORCS packs and insists only ORCS packs be given out.

Game Den has a huge, new store located at 2590 west and 4700 south in Taylorsville, Utah. Game Den can easily seat 180 players for a Regional Qualifier.

DO NOT MISS REGIONALS!!! This Regionals will be the best ever. Game Den has many surprises, fun games, and numerous giveaways planned.

Game Den will be holding a Galactic Overlord "Sneak Peek" the day after Regionals. On Sunday, April 29th, at 10 a.m. Game Den in Taylorsville and Provo will begin Sneak Peek events. Cost is $20 for 5 packs of Galactic Overlord. Sneak Peek mats will be given away randomly. Therefore, Regionals and a Sneak Peek experience can both be enjoyed by all. Do not let the fact that Konami scheduled both on the same day make you miss one or the other. Come to both at Game Den. You won't be disappointed. Call Kirk at 801 969-0074 with any questions.

Back by popular demand, yours truly is writing another Yu-gi-oh...

Back by popular demand, yours truly is writing another Yu-gi-oh tournament report. With only one week left before Regionals, I feel it's important to let it be know that ummm yeah... it's one week before Regionals as in Regionals are this coming Saturday, December 17, at Game Den in West Valley City.

Now back to the tournament of this Saturday past. A robust 40 duelists enrolled and many rambunctious matches later, the following 8 players were left to engage in top 8 battles:

1. Chris "Kawasaki" L. - Scraps
2. Michael "Silent Assassin" T. - Agents
3. Kyle "The Black Rose Sucked" W. - Vayu Turbo
4. Enoch "Shake My Hand" S - Chaos
5. Jordan "The Mathematician" V. Dino Rabbit
6. Donovan "California Dreamin" S - Heroes
7. Bright "Five Dolla!" L. - Junk Doppel
8. Jacky "Forgot to Take My Ritalin" H. - POS Deck without a name

Quarterfinal action saw Forgot to Take My Ritalin squeak by Kawasaki in perhaps the greatest luck out of all time, Shake My Hand defeat The Mathematician, Five Dolla! upset the Silent Assassin, and The Black Rose Sucked overcome California Dreamin.

In the Semi-finals, Forgot to Take My Ritalin with the aid of unseen supernatural forces somehow barely won Shake My Hand, and The Black Rose Sucked defeated Five Dolla!

The Black Rose Sucked crushed Forgot to Take My Ritalin like an overripe banana in a trash compactor in the finals and won six packs for his efforts.

Registration for Regionals begins at 8:00 a.m. with the tournament scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Game Den in WVC will do its usual number of free giveaways during the tournament, so everyone will have a chance to win additional prizes. Top 8 players will be awarded additional booster packs with a full box to first place.

'Twas the day of the Sneak Peek and all through...

'Twas the day of the Sneak Peek and all through the mall; not a creature was stirring; not even a pig. What started off as a quiet day, soon turned into the usual Sneak Peek madhouse of players hoping like hell to get the bunny in a Sneak Peek pack. Some were rewarded. Many left with no bunny.

Regarding the weekly constructed tournament also held on this day, 48 participants enrolled then engaged in ferocious dueling.
After 6 arduous rounds, the following 8 players emerged to battle for first place honors:

1. Tyler "Not my cup of tea" T. - Junk Dopple
2. Joey "No Tell" C. - Gallis Burn
3. Kyle "The Black Rose Sucked" W. - Fabled
4. Aaron "Drop and Give Me Ten" B. - Heroes
5. Julio "Goes to Time Every Round" B. - X-Sabers
6. Chris "Kawasaki" L. - Scraps
7. Brett "Set my People Free" B. - Dark World
8. Doug "Never Tell" S. - Destiny Hero Plant

Golly gee a lot of new players made the top 8 this week. How exhilarating! In the quarterfinals, Never Tell upset number 1 seed Not my cup of tea; Drop and give me ten defeated Goes to Time Every Round; The Black Rose Sucked won Kawasaki; and No Tell upended Set my People Free.

In the top 4, Never Tell defeated The Black Rose Sucked, and No tell defeated Drop and Give Me Ten.

In the finals, a fitting matchup between No Tell and Never Tell saw No Tell emerge victorious.

In only two weeks, on Saturday, November 19th, Game Den in WVC will be holding its much anticipated BETTER THAN REGIONALS tournament. See the post entititled "Better than Regionals tournament" for all of the delicious details.

Before I begin the tournament report, let me take a moment to discuss the attributes of the pig. The curves of a pig are some of the most beautiful found in nature. The pig makes amazing oinking and grunting sounds that are pleasing to the human ear especially when compared with the constant high-pitched squealing of the little s***s in Kidzone. Pigs are exceptionally intelligent. Pigs can eat a lot of slop. I have nothing bad to say about pigs

Now about the tournament of this past Saturday. It was a splendid event with many jolly participants. After five rounds of fierce dueling, the following eight players advanced to fight for top honor:

1. Joey "The friendly Ramen Noodle"C. - Agents
2. DJ "The Hawaiian Chicken Leg" K. -Gravekeepers
3. Anthony "19 Rares in a Row" E. - Chaos
4. Anthony "Up All Night" C. - Gadgets
5. Daniel "Baybee" G. - Gravekeepers
6. Philip "Sink or Swim" H. - Vayu Turbo
7. Cody "The Gavel" C. - Zombies
8. Taylor "Worst Box Ever" B. - Scraps

Quarterfinal action saw The Friendly Ramen Noodle defeat Worst Box Ever, The Hawaiian Chicken Leg defeat The Gavel, Baybee defeat Up All Night, and 19 Rares in a Row defeat Sink or Swim.

Quarterfinal action ended with Baybee gnawing the Hawaiian Chicken Leg and The Friendly Ramen Noodle besting 19 Rares in a Row.

In the finals, The Friendly Ramen Noodle put Baybee to sleep.

Please remember how wonderful pigs are.

By popular demand, once again, yours truly brings you a Yu-gi-oh Tournament Report. I know there are many of you out there who find these reports to be the highlight of your entire week and many of you become more or less non functioning blobs until you read these reports, so I make every effort to give you an entertaining and yet concise weekly report--relatively concise given the length of this sentence.

October is here and though the thoughts of many turn to carving pumpkins into grotesque, leering monstrosities, others are playing Yu-gi-oh at noon on Saturday at Game Den. This past Saturday a robust turnout filled the sacred walls of Game Den in West Valley City. After six arduous rounds of extremely intense dueling, the following 8 emerged to participate in the bracket:

1. Taylor "Worst Box Ever" B. - Gate Hero
2. DJ "Hawaiian Chicken Leg" K. - T.G.
3. Trevor "Nascar" V. - Malefic
4. Cody "The Gavel" C. - Zombie Plant
5. Zach "Bearded Wonder" P. - Lightsworn
6. Cody "A Day Late but Not a Dollar Short" D. - Karakuri
7. Daryl "Has Won" R. - Agents
8. Chris "Kawasaki" L. - Dopple Dupe

In the Quarterfinals, The Hawaiian Chicken Leg defeated Has Won, Worst Box Ever defeated Kawasaki, The Gavel defeated Bearded Wonder, and Nascar defeated A Day Late But Not a Dollar Short. In the semi-finals, The Hawaiian Chicken Leg won Nascar and The Gavel won Worst Box Ever. In the finals, The Gavel gnawed The Hawaiian Chicken Leg to win the tournament

Now more details regarding the Better Than Regionals (BTR) tournament to be held at Game Den in WVC on Saturday, October 29th at noon. As previously stated, each person who enters the BTR tournament will receive 6 packs. These packs will likely be in the form of 2 Generation Force Special Editions--each special edition having 2 packs and even The Mathematician, Jordan V. can tell you 2 x 3 is 6. Also, on the day of the BTR tourament, Game Den in WVC will be having many super sales on popular Yu-gi-oh products such as Special Editions, Structure Decks, Gold Series 4, and Player's Choice sleeves. This will indeed be much better than Regionals. Another post giving all the details for the BTR tournament will appear on Gameden.com this week.
